Toke Makinwa releases her wedding photos

TV/Radio personality Toke Makinwa married her longtime beau on Wednesday January 15th at a private wedding. She's just released her wedding photos, accompanied by a beautiful message. See more photos after the cut...

What she wrote on her blog below...
On the 15th of January 2014,  I got married to my lover and Best Friend. It was such an intimate event, I haven't stopped apologising to family and friends who feel slighted that they could not attend.  I really did not wish to keep it a secret, If anything we would have loved to have all our loved ones there with us but this was our registry and  so much had happened between Maje and I in the last 3 months. Plus, it was such a huge surprise, I had no clue. I hate surprises but I must say, this one knocked me out of my elements because i usually suspect something is happening. Hehehehe!  I am not fully over it yet.
Relationships are tough, people go through the ups and downs and we as a couple have had our share of that. Having a private moment was not to offend anyone, it was God's appointed time and No, I am not pregnant. Lol.  Having a baby is a precious gift from God and when that time is right, I am sure he will bless us with ours. Without boring you all, cos you mean so much to me, I have decided to share some of the pictures from the happiest day of my life.
Thank you all for your endless prayers, emails, calls and support. Our wedding dates (Engagement and Blessings) will be announced soonish.

22yr old college athlete arrested for infecting dozens of men wih HIV

According to a report by Radar Online, 22year old college athlete, Michael Johnson (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly infecting dozens of men with the HIV virus. 32 tapes of the former wrestler having unprotected sex with men who are not aware of his HIV status were found on his computer. The men were not even aware that he was filming the sex act.

Michael has been charged with five counts of recklessly risking infection of another with HIV since November. Authorities said they have only identified one of the men in the tapes, and are trying to find out the identities of the others; many of the men seen having sex with Johnson might have met him through social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as well as on campus.

St. Charles County prosecutor Tim Lohmar told KMOV that “it’s safe to say that numerous of those videos were taken inside his dorm room; we know that because we recognize the furniture.” Continue

Authorities there are asking anyone who may have had an intimate relationship with Johnson, or who may have relevant info, to contact the St. Charles Detective Bureau at 636-949-3330.

“It’s a matter not only of their individual safety,” Lohmar said, “but public safety as well.”
Johnson remains in custody on a $100,000 bond at St. Charles County Jail., and is slated for a court hearing Tuesday. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.

Same Sex Marriage: Who be government teacher? By Reno Omokri

An article written by Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media. Find below...
The criticism President Goodluck Jonathan has faced in some quarters for signing the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Bill 2011 into law is in my opinion clearly misplaced. For one, these critics have to understand that the way and manner democracy works, at least in Nigeria, is that the Legislature makes the laws, the Executive implements it and the Judiciary interprets it.
But be that as it may, in Nigeria, the President at any time is both a Head of State as well as the Head of Government, this is one reason why the President is called an Executive President. Continue...
As Head of State, President Jonathan is duty bound to epitomize the culture of Nigeria.  As the late Afrobeat Maestro, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, sang in his hit song, 'Teacher Don't Teach me Nonsense', the government's teachers are culture and tradition. In fact, to quote Fela, he said 'who be government teacher, culture and tradition'.
Many of those now criticizing the President danced with glee and agreement to that tune because as Jesus Christ said in John 8:32 "you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free". What Christ did not add, but which we have come to find out ourselves is that before the truth sets you free, it may first make you angry!
Nigeria has its culture and it is the duty of governments to protect their culture.
It is quite unfortunate that critics who praise foreign human right agencies for calling for sanctions against Nigeria have not realized that Nigeria has cultures that many foreign nations would not tolerate.
For instance, Amy Chua, popularly known as 'The Tiger Mom' has an upcoming book entitled 'The Triple Package' in which she lists Nigerians as one of 8 Super Races who raise excellent children. One of the reasons which Chua lists for the successes of Nigerian parenting is the fact that many if not all Nigerian parents would not think twice about spanking a child who misbehaves as a way of correcting their behavior.
Many of my readers will agree that the fear of a spanking is a great motivator to behave well. In fact, some Nigerian parents will even spank their children if they have bad grades at school. Chua notes that the fear of such a spanking greatly motivates Nigerian children to do better than children of other nationalities. It is worth noting that Amy Chua is of Asian origin.
As a result, wherever they go, but especially in the United States, Nigerians are the immigrant community with the highest educational qualifications bar none!
However, it is actually illegal to spank children in many US states and in much of Europe and Nigerian parents have been arrested for motivating their children via spanking.
Now, if foreign domains would not tolerate something that is part of our own culture and which has been used to positive effects by generations of Nigerians, why should we accept something that is not in our own culture in order to please others?
In the modern world in which we live in, male and female sexuality have been flashed very powerfully and provocatively by the media on youths approaching puberty to the extent that mixed messages on sexuality are passed on to many youths who do not know how to handle the images they see and their response to them.
The confusion that these images bring lead to tendencies being formed. If these tendencies are fed, they will grow stronger. If they are starved, they will grow weaker.
Almost 100 percent of the Nigerian population declare that they are Christian, Muslim or Traditionalists. All of these religions reject homosexuality as a way of life. Let me make myself very clear here, these religions reject homosexuality as a way of life and not homosexuals. During His lifetime on earth, Jesus hated sin but showed love to sinners.

As such, we must understand that good laws shouldn't conflict with The Word of God to suit lifestyles. Rather, they should conflict with lifestyles to suit The Word of God.
There would be people that would say the law is not fair to those with such a lifestyle and they may have a point. But we must be able to distinguish between what is fair and what is right. They are not the same thing.
For instance, if you are a Christian you know that in Christianity, once there is genuine repentance, God will still forgive even a serial killer and leave open the doorway to eternal life in His Kingdom to such a person. On the other hand, if his victims died without accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, according to Scripture, they would be unable to access eternal life in the kingdom of God.
Now, if you ask me, I would say that it does not sound fair, and many people would be of the same opinion. But it is right, if you are a Christian, because Christians believe that God made us and is Sovereign over us.
It is not only homosexuality that is against our culture and the religions which we profess as Nigerians. Corruption, oil theft, election rigging, terrorism and other activities are likewise against our culture and religion and we have made laws against them and people have been arrested and sent to jail. Nobody is singling out homosexuality.
So when foreign Oped pieces lampoon the Nigerian Legislature as well as the Federal Government, rather than hold these opinion pieces as proof that an error was made with the signing into law of this bill, what we as Nigerians must do is to ask ourselves the question, what should be the driver of our Grundnorm, the basic norm, order and rule that forms the underlying basis for our legal system? Should it be the opinions and cultures of other nations or should it be the cultures of our people?
And it is trite nonsense for critics to write that the President only signed the Bill in order to distract the public. With all due respect, distract the public from what? If a genuine rebranding of a nation is the projection of positive things that are happening, then there are enough positive things happening in Nigeria that are capable of catching and holding the attention of Nigerians.
For the first time in our nation's history, this year's World Economic Forum on Africa will be hosted by Nigeria in Abuja from May 7-9, 2014. The choice of Nigeria as a host is against the background that Nigeria, under President Jonathan, has recently emerged as the largest economy in Africa  (tinyurl.com/pbbld8r). Today, Nigerians live 10% longer than they did in 2007 and earn 65% more than they did in the same period (tinyurl.com/y5tfwwd) and (tinyurl.com/yyl5xy2).

With the growth in our economy and the progress in our Human Development Index, why would the President need to divert the attention of Nigerians with the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Bill? If there is any distraction at all it is that this storm in a tea cup is distracting media attention from the real and tangible benefits of the Transformation Agenda such as the fact that Nissan recently announced that as a result of the new National Automobile Policy they would begin to build cars in Nigeria with effect from 2014.
Let me add one last word to those who continue to criticize President Jonathan. You can't pursue greatness and comfort at the same time. Leaders must be willing to stand up for what they know is right even when critics cry for blood.

Anti-gay bill: US threatens to sanction Nigeria

The US has threatened to sanction Nigeria following President Jonathan’s signing of the Same-Sex Prohibition Act 2014. The world power is threatening to scale down its support for HIV/AIDS and anti-malaria programmes in Nigeria. This was made known yesterday Jan. 20th by James Entwistle, the US Ambassador to Nigeria.

Mr Entwistle said he was worried about "the implications of the anti-same sex marriage law which seems to restrict the fundamental rights of a section of the Nigerian population.”
"The issue of same-sex marriage was very controversial all over the world, including within  the United States where 17 states out of 50 had endorsed it, but others still reject its legality. The issue that we see and I am speaking as a friend of Nigeria is that as I read the bill, it looks to me that it puts significant restrictions on the freedoms of assembly and expression; in my opinion which applies especially in advanced democracies, once government begins to say something in these areas, freedom no longer applies. It seems to me that this is a very worrisome precedent.”

Joan Rivers brands Kim's daughter an 'ugly baby, in need of waxing'

Radar Online reports that 80 year old comedienne and E! Fashion Police presenter branded Kim K and Kanye West's seven months old baby, North West, 'ugly' and 'desperately in need of a waxing'.

The comedienne joked about North as part of her latest stand-up comedy routine. She explained how she had met Nori when Kim brought her into the offices of the E! television network.
'That baby is ugly... I've never seen a six-month-old so desperately in need of a waxing.' Joan told her audience at Saban Theater on January 17 in Los Angeles.
Now waiting for Kanye West's response...

"I am not a thief, my problem is spiritual" - actress Yetunde Akilapa

Upcoming Nollywood actress, Yetunde Akilapa was allegedly caught trying to burgle a house located at 16 Ibitoye Street, Magado, Lagos on Sunday, January 12. She was badly beaten by residents of the house and photos from the incident sent to the press. (Pictures above)

It was her second stealing incident in one year. In February 2013, the actress was involved in a home break-in incident in the Shomolu area of Lagos for which she was allegedly arrested, prosecuted and remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison for six months. Just two months after she was released, she was caught stealing again. But Yetunde says she's not a Kleptomaniac, that her problem is spiritual.
"I am not a thief. I didn't steal anything. I dont know what is happening to me. I have every reason to believe my problem is spiritual. I can't even explain the circumstance I found myself. People should not ruin my life and career. I am fed up with life. I am not what people think I am. I have never been to Kirikiri Maximum Prison as alleged. God please help me out of this mess! As I am speaking with you now, I am in Ibadan, Oyo state seeking the face of God and I believe I would get out of this dilemma one day. I am not a kleptomaniac. I have not stolen anything" she told Encoimum magazine. Continue..
Yetunde was also rumored to have been banned from the Odunfa Caucus of the Yoruba Movie Industry, an allegation she refuted stating she had called her bosses and they said such a decision was never taken.

She said 'There is nothing like that. When I heard that rumor, I called all my bosses, and they said there was nothing like that. So it's just a rumor. People are only interested in fueling issues because of my situation. Nobody banned me from acting".

Reacting to the ban allegation, Yomi Fabiyi who is a member of the Odunfa caucus spoke on behalf of the group.
"My opinion is that the association has procedures. With the report highlighted on social media, it looked half baked. To me, half truth is worse than a lie. I want to believe if she was caught with stolen items, the items must have been stated. She said they found her with four keys and nothing suggest the keys fit into any of the doors there. The association would even have to investigate the matter, especially when the reporter seem to be filing his report on a third party account. If there was any ban whatsoever, where is the proof? Then who banned her from acting? The association does not condone crime in any form and will act on authentic information. So Yetunde Akilapa to me has not been banned, But that will be investigated if necessary" Fabiyi told Encomium magazine
Counsel to Yetunde Akilapa, Barrister Bosun Osifowora released a statement on the issues about Yetunde's theft story, her alleged Kirikiri prison detention as well as her ban from the Odunfa Caucus of the Yoruba Movie Industry.

His statement reads:
"We write to expressly correct the impression that Yetunde Akilapa has been banned or suspended. She has not received verbal or written notice to that effect. Yetunde is sorry and remorseful that her name is involved in such things. She has very much regard for the industry and Odunfa Caucus, more reason she fights hard to always clear her name. It is ridiculous to suggest she wil be expelled when it is abundantly cleared that she has been cleared of any wrong doing but needs physical and spiritual help. There is no dignity fighting someone on the floor.
We also like to correct the following impressions:
* Yetunde was never in Kirikiri prisons during the first case. The matter was charged to court and bail application was granted  and condition met same day which the media was aware of. The case lasted three months and she attended court from home, not from custody.
* There was nothing like master key and on no account did the police say the keys found on her were compared to the key hole of the rooms in the hosue and it opened. Why are journalist feeding people with stories so untrue? They were her keys, just four pieces.
* On this second case, whoever broke the news lied. Yetunde was never accused of stealing. The accuser suspects she may have been sent to drop some fetish substance. Must lies sell stories?
* The case got a twist when in an effort to prove her innocence of diabolical intentions, she confidently stated she is a budding actress. One of the guys googled her name and found the previous story, hit her in a swift reaction, hence she fainted. The guy has since apologized.
* It was on this note that the police was informed and the matter was settled and it was abundantly clear her accusers were also at fault. One thing now led to another until it dawned on her, after public accusation she began to realize she is in the wrong place.
* We are all Africans, efforts are in top gear to find a lasting solution to this menace. She needs your prayers, not your persecution now.

Rukky Sanda still rocking sexy punk hairdo...

Actress and film producer Rukky Sanda looking quite sexy in a Zebra inspired dress as she continues to rock her new sexy punk hairdo..

'I read blog comments and it depresses me" Halima Abubakar says

The actress admitted in a new interview with The Netng that she reads stories about herself on blogs and the comments make her sad and depresses her.
That’s like physical bullying. Online, they are invisible. I believe if you have a problem with me, you should approach me. But if you go online and comment as anonymous or use a strange name, you are still bringing yourself down. Yes, you would make me feel sad, but the damage will not be permanent, but temporary until I am strong enough not to read those comments again. I am going to say it that I am not one of those actresses that say they don’t read blogs. I do. I have been reading blogs for the past five years or so, but I have never commented. Sometimes I am pushed to insult everybody there and comment under anonymous. But then I tell myself, well, they would always remain anonymous while I stay relevant. And so, I bear most of the insults and try not to be bothered about them. It was not easy. I was depressed for a long time because of things like that. I just felt that people didn’t like me. I didn’t understand how people could still hate me even when I know I am one of the nicest people in Nollywood. Continue...
I am not disrespecting anybody, I am just saying that even if someone has hurt me several times, I will still be nice to the person. People just go ahead and bash me for no reasons. They don’t even know me and they are saying this and that. Before, I will cry and cry and get depressed. But now, I don’t even bother myself anymore. They don’t know what I’m going through and they don’t know my story.
Which of the stories would you say hurt you the most?
Amongst the many, there was one referring to people who patronize a particular hotel on the island with a politician, and my name was the headline of the publication. If you are saying you saw Halima, then you should have proof. I have never visited that hotel called Four Points. I had my premiere at Oriental Hotel. If I wanted to use Four Points I would have. I hate it when the media knowingly writes things that are not true. They know they are lying but they still go ahead to write because of the pull down syndrome. If you are friends of these selected people, they can make their own people hate you. Before you know it, the person will be writing nonsense and gossiping about you. Love is not like that. Just because you don’t love me shouldn’t be an excuse to attack me. You don’t know the things that I go through everyday. I don’t know everybody’s problems but I know mine. So, it is unfair that they will take whatever frustration out on other people for no reason.
