FFK apologizes for mentioning names of ex-girlfriends in his article

Ex-minister Femi Fani Kayode mentioned names of three former Igbo girlfriends in an article he wrote a few days back to prove he wasn't tribalistic and has nothing against the Igbos. People felt mentioning their names was disrespectful to the women. He has apologized. Find his statement below
'Chief Femi Fani-Kayode hereby expresses his deepest regrets for mentioning the names of three distinguished Nigerian ladies that he was once associated with in his last article titled ''A Word For Those Who Say I am A Tribalist''. He meant no harm by doing so and neither did he at any point make references to having had any sexual relations with any of these ladies when they were associated with him as is being suggested by some members of the public. He was simply trying to emphasise the fact that he has nothing against the igbo people and that his friendship with these three ladies in particular over the years provided some evidence of that.
For the record he has not seen Madame Chioma Anasoh, Chief Adaobi Kate Uchegbu and Ambassador Bianca Onoh in many years and he admits that it was inappropiate for him to have mentioned their names in the essay, to use them as a point of reference in a public discussion or to make any references whatsoever to the nature of their past association. All references to them have been erased from the updated version of the essay.

Chief Fani-Kayode has reached two of the ladies concerned and he has personally conveyed his unreserved apology to them both and to their families for his indiscretion. He shall endeavour to reach the third lady to do the same in the next few days. Chief Fani-Kayode has nothing more to say on this matter and would prefer to remain focused on issues of national importance and not of a personal nature''-

Mr. Bisi Lawal, Press Secretary to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode

Maybe this press secretary should start writing FFK's articles from now on. #justasuggestion. :-)

Becoming your own boss through franchising

Franchise is considered a smart alternative to starting a business on your own. ADEMOLA ALAWIYE highlights reasons why it is seen as a better option.
For entrepreneurs seeking to invest in a business with a higher probability for success, it is no surprise that buying a franchise with a proven business model and ongoing management support is so attractive.
When starting a business, there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration. According to experts, the types of product or service, source of financing, the location where the business will be operated among other factors are key considerations. They, however, say when it comes to the business model, it is important to decide whether a new model should be designed or an existing model should be adopted. This is where the option of franchising can be clearly considered.
The Regional Development Director, WSI West African, Mrs. Karibo Ekeopara describes a franchise as an authorisation to sell a company’s goods or services in a particular place. Put differently, a franchise is a business established or operated under an authorisation to sell or distribute a company’s goods or services in a particular area for a defined period.
While some people argue that starting a business from the scratch is ideal, there are strong facts that support the idea of getting a franchise. According to experts, the following include reasons why franchising should be considered:
Risk minimisation.
Starting a business is risky; Studies have shown that 90 per cent of new businesses fail within the first three years. The main reason the failure rate is so high, according to Ekeopara, is because the owners have to go through the learning curve of operating that specific type of business. However, franchising reduces that curve drastically thereby increasing chances of business success because of proven products and methods.
The selling power of a recognised brand
Instead of starting the growth curve of building a brand name, a franchise enables a new business to build on an existing brand name, automatically transferring existing privileges, which takes years to develop, to the new business. Ekeopara says, “A franchise provides an established product or service which may already enjoy widespread brand-name recognition. This gives the franchisee the benefits of a pre-sold customer base which would ordinarily take years to establish.” Generally, customers prefer to patronise an already existing brand because they already have an idea of the level of quality to expect.
Use of an established business model
For new businesses, the hassle of developing a fresh business model is greatly reduced with the acquisition of a franchise. Many elements of the model are standard operating procedures established by the franchisor. Experts say the most difficult part of a new business is its start-up, since even experienced managers lack the knowledge to set up a new business. Leveraging on the existing model of the franchisor helps the franchisee to focus on other aspects of starting the new business.
While a franchisor provides a defined, proven business format or method of operation offering a product or service that has sold successfully, an independent business may be based on both an untried idea and operation.
Clear knowledge of investment cost
Before a franchise is acquired, the franchisor makes available the costs associated with operating the new business. The franchisors representative will verify that the new business owner has sufficient assets to invest in the business and the required corporate franchise fee. The advantage of the stringent financial requirements is that clear information is available about investment costs. When starting a business from the scratch without the benefit of a franchise, the new business owner will most likely run into unexpected costs.
Initial training and ongoing support
Ekeopara points out that the franchise usually provides corporate training for the new business. She says, “Most franchises offer training in every aspect of the business including; management, marketing, bookkeeping, inventory control, security and human resources.” She adds that many franchises provide access to business consultants and mentors, generally other successful owners from within their franchise network, who can offer professional advice to assist new franchisees in the early days of their business. Some other franchises offer ongoing training and support to ensure that the brand adapts to the changing needs of their customers and operating environment.
Shorter time to start the business
Experts say with a franchise, the kick off to the business is made faster and easier because of the already set methodology and an already existing standard operating manual. This gives structure to the business even before it fully embarks on its operations.
Regional advertising campaigns
Investment expert, Mr. Kola Adebiyi, says being part of a franchise means a business is part of national or regional advertising that is managed, contracted and possibly paid for by corporate or regional headquarters. He says, “Advertising campaigns continue to increase brand awareness and drive traffic for a business. Therefore if the business decides to secure additional advertising time, the cost will be greatly reduced sharing it with other franchises in the territory.”
Fellow franchisees available to provide advice and support
Most franchises work collaboratively to ensure that the brand succeeds, this serves as a form of comfort to the new franchisee that is still learning the ropes of the business. For some franchises, they attach an already practicing franchisee to the new franchisee to act as a mentor providing valuable advice and support.
Assistance with securing funding
In some cases, it is possible to receive assistance in financing a new franchise through the franchisor, which could make an arrangement with a lending institution to lend money to a franchisee. However, the franchisee must still accept responsibility for the loan, but the franchiser’s involvement usually increases the likelihood that the loan will be approved.

HYPOTENSION

Your Wellbeing Matters

Blood pressure is the pressure or force exerted by blood against blood vessels that result in causing pumping of the heart. Blood pressure keeps in rising with every heartbeat and falls when the heart relaxes. Low blood pressure, also called hypotension, is blood pressure that is low enough that the flow of blood to the organs of the body is inadequate.
Low blood pressure is referred to that condition when the readings of the blood pressure are below the normal level and according to the American heart Association “normal blood pressure level lies below (120/80mm Hg)”, if the blood pressure level is below 90/60, then it is said that a person is suffering from low blood pressure.
When the blood pressure of the body starts falling rapidly, then it is termed as condition of orthostatic hypotension, which is also referred as postural hypotension, symptoms of the disorder are experienced when a person stands up after lying or sitting for a long period of time. Although, the condition is commonly observed in older adults, younger generations are at equal risk.If the necessary step is not taken within stipulated time period, then the condition may get worse resulting in causing severe hypotension. Therefore, it is important to treat the condition after gaining adequate knowledge about the causes.
Causes of Low Blood Pressure
Main causes of the low blood pressure can be summarized as:
  • Malnutrition
  • Faulty nutrition
  • Loss of blood
  • Pericarditis (read more here)
  • Pulmonary embolism (read more here)
  • Weekend heart muscle
  • Dehydration  - This can sometimes cause blood pressure to drop. However, dehydration does not automatically signal low blood pressure. Fever, vomiting, severe diarrhea, overuse of diuretics and strenuous exercise can all lead to dehydration, a potentially serious condition in which your body loses more water than you take in. Even mild dehydration (a loss of as little as 1 percent to 2 percent of body weight), can cause weakness, dizziness and fatigue.
  • Dizziness or lightheaded
  • Fainting
  • Depression
  • Fatigue
  •  Blurred vision
  • Rapid of shallow breathing
  • Lack of concentration
PLEASE NOTE THAT as long as no symptoms are present, low blood pressure is not a problem. Also a single lower-than-normal reading is not a cause for alarm if you are not experiencing any symptoms or problems. However, a sudden drop in blood pressure, even a change of  20 mm Hg can cause dizziness or fainting. Sometimes a rapid decrease in blood pressure can indicate an underlying problem such as if your blood pressure is normally higher or if you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, your low pressure may have an underlying cause. Low blood pressure can also occur during on of the following;

  • Prolonged bed rest
  • Pregnancy
During the first 24 weeks of pregnancy, it's common for blood pressure to drop.
  • Decreases in blood volume
A decrease in blood volume can also cause blood pressure to drop. A significant loss of blood from major trauma, dehydration or severe internal bleeding reduces blood volume, leading to a severe drop in blood pressure.
  • Certain medications
A number of drugs can cause low blood pressure, including diuretics and other drugs that treat hypertension; heart medications such as beta blockers; drugs for Parkinson's disease; tricyclic antidepressants; erectile dysfunction drugs, particularly in combination with nitroglycerine; narcotics and alcohol. Other prescription and over-the-counter drugs may cause low blood pressure when taken in combination with HBP medications.
  • Heart problems
Among the heart conditions that can lead to low blood pressure are an abnormally low heart rate (bradycardia), problems with heart valves, heart attack and heart failure. Your heart may not be able to circulate enough blood to meet your body's needs.
  • Endocrine problems
Such problems include complications with hormone-producing glands in the body's endocrine systems; specifically, an under-active thyroid (hypothyroidism), parathyroid disease, adrenal insufficiency (Addison's disease), low blood sugar and, in some cases, diabetes.
  • Severe infection (septic shock)
Septic shock can occur when bacteria leave the original site of an infection (most often in the lungs, abdomen or urinary tract) and enter the bloodstream. The bacteria then produce toxins that affect blood vessels, leading to a profound and life-threatening decline in blood pressure.
  • Allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
Anaphylactic shock is a sometimes-fatal allergic reaction that can occur in people who are highly sensitive to drugs such as penicillin, to certain foods such as peanuts, or to bee or wasp stings. This type of shock is characterized by breathing problems, hives, itching, a swollen throat and a sudden, dramatic fall in blood pressure.
  • Neurally mediated hypotension
Unlike orthostatic hypotension, this disorder causes blood pressure to drop after standing for long periods, leading to symptoms such as dizziness, nausea and fainting. This condition primarily affects young people and occurs because of a miscommunication between the heart and the brain.
  • Nutritional deficiencies
A lack of the essential vitamins B-12 and folic acid can cause anemia, which in turn can lead to low blood pressure.
  Treatment
  • Taking medications
  • Increased intake of salt and fluids like water
  • Balanced and nutritious diet, etc
  Talking about taking medications (though the following are food supplements);
B complex vitamins support healthy neuronal functioning and assist with healthy mood and mental clarity.Studies show that given the choice between natural or synthetic vitamin E, the body preferentially takes up natural E!GNLD's Lipotropic Adjunct vitamin supplement contains inositol maintaining the health of the circulatory system.

Suarez denies he’s staying at Liverpool

Suarez

Luis Suarez has said he never told anybody that he would remain with Liverpool. His statement came soon after an earlier one that suggested he had given up on transfer for the sake of Liverpool fans whom he said had shown him so much love.
“I didn’t say it,” Suarez told journalists following Uruguay’s 4-2 win over Japan.
The quick turnaround shouldn’t be particularly shocking given the nature of Suarez’ transfer saga, with Liverpool intent on keeping him in the fold and the player ready to move on.
The earlier reports hinted that Suarez seemed to had performed a sensational u-turn over his future and insisted that he would remain at Anfield.
The Uruguay international has been eager to leave England, aggrieved by his treatment from the British media, but the Reds are unwilling to let their star player leave.
Arsenal, where participation in the Champions League appealed to Suarez, pushed hard to sign the 26-year-old, though a bid of £42m – which would have smashed the club’s transfer record – was rejected.
Earlier in the day the former Ajax front man appeared to have finally accepted Liverpool’s no-sale stance, and was reported as saying that the club’s passionate fan base had convinced him to remain on Merseyside.
“Right now, because of all the love of the fans, I will be staying,” Uruguayan newspaper El Observador quoted him as having said.”

You are here: Home / Sports / Malawi afraid of losing in Calabar – Ugbe Malawi afraid of losing in Calabar – Ugbe

Head of Federal Government delegation and Senate President David Mark with the victorious Super Eagles ... on Sunday.
The Cross River State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mr Patrick Ugbe, has said Malawi’s protest against Calabar venue for the crucial the 2014 World Cup qualifying match with the Super Eagles was hinged on the fear of losing the match.
The Football Association of Malawi had last week written to FIFA to ask that the September 7 decisive Group F World Cup qualifier against Nigeria be moved from Calabar to another venue. But in his reaction in Calabar, Ugbe dismissed the claims of the FAM, saying their protest has exposed their ignorance about Nigeria.
“We have a track record of hosting the national team matches and we are ready again to do it. I personally believe that it is because they know that the Eagles have never lost a match in Calabar and they know that it will be a tough one for them. They need an outright victory while Nigeria needs at worst a draw in that match for us to proceed to the next stage.”
“So, I guess having followed the Eagles matches knowing that they have done so well in Calabar, the fear in them have made them to protest to FIFA that the match should be played elsewhere.”

Phyno My Streetz Cover

According to Sesan Adeniji, Publisher of Mystreetz Magazine, the most consistent monthly music magazine in Nigeria.

‘About a decade ago, I attended an emergency music meeting with some of the most respectable veterans and spokesmen of the Nigerian music industry. They were concerned about the infiltrated sound called Hip hop/ Rap music. At the end of this meeting, these veterans concluded that this genre was never going to stand the test of time and they were right as of that moment, because Rap music had not found elements to connect with the local music lovers all around Nigeria but they were also wrong because the most constant thing in life is change; most importantly, if it driven by a young generation who are as relevant as those of the Arab spring.
As Rap music continued its search for a wide acceptance from the non conformist generation to the pidgin english era, the influence of those that defiled the odds to infuse the Nigerian Northern, Western, Eastern/southern language into the Hip/hop and Rap music genre seem to be the reason why Rap may have succeeded all around the nation. With the success of Olamide, the final victory for Rap music might be the PHYNO THESIS. Has Rap music finally pulled down the walls of language barrier?’

Jonathan, a drowning President –El-Rufai

El-Rufai

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has described President Goodluck Jonathan as a drowning President, who distorts facts.
El-Rufai, in a statement on Wednesday, insisted that Jonathan had resorted to ethnic and religious politics to score some political points.
The President’s spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, on Sunday described el-Rufai as “a serial liar” while responding to an interview the former minister granted Liberty FM, Kaduna, on Saturday.
El-Rufai, in the interview, said Jonathan was playing religious and ethnic politics.
The former minister, who, on Wednesday, insisted that Jonathan was playing the ethnic game, noted that the Presidency had not addressed issues he raised on Saturday.
He said, “It may interest the President to know that Nigerians are much wiser now and will not be deceived by the antics of a drowning president and his desperate aides.”
El-Rufai, for instance, said Jonathan favoured his home state, Bayelsa in federal appointments, citing a report by the Governance and Sustainable Initiatives Limited, entitled ‘Analysis and Lessons of the Current Geopolitical Distribution of Federal Appointments’, to support his claim.
He said, “The Jonathan administration is said to have favoured his home state of Bayelsa 200 per cent times more than the next states with the highest federal representation – Delta, Edo and Anambra.
“If Jonathan is not playing the ethnic card, can he possibly explain to Nigerians why Bayelsa, which has the smallest population in Nigeria and the fewest number of local government areas,  has more than double the number of federal appointees measured by population and weight of responsibility than that of the next state?”
According to him, the most populous states of Lagos and Kano are at the bottom of the representation ladder.
He recalled that the President was quick to exonerate those he called “my people” from the October 1, 2010 bombings in Abuja.
El-Rufai said Henry Okah, convicted of the offence in South Africa, revealed that a Presidency official contacted him to implicate some northerners.
He also said after the 2011 elections, Jonathan  told a delegation of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo that the only votes he got from the North were from Igbo residents in the region.
He asked, “Are those the words of a patriot or an ethnic bigot? This was after an election where he received nearly 100 per cent of all votes cast in the South-South and South-East states, in some cases getting more votes than there were registered voters or even residents.”
He also criticised Vice-President Namadi Sambo for the massive debts he incurred as the governor of Kaduna State.
However, the Presidency  said el-Rufai and his ilk were “grossly irresponsible for targeting Jonathan in their politics of abuse and name-calling.”
Abati said nobody had the right to denigrate the office of the President under the guise of engaging in criticism.
Doing so, according  to the  presidential  spokesman, is both “unreasonable and foolish.”
Abati said, “I have not seen the full text of El-Rufai’s statement. I will look out for it and study it and if need be, I will respond appropriately.”
Also, the media aide to the vice-president, Mallam Sani Umar, challenged el-Rufai to publish the facts on the Kaduna State debt profile and the water project.
Umar said, “I  challenge El-Rufai to publish the debt profile of the state from 1996 to  date for the public to decipher and judge whether huge debts  were bequeathed to Kaduna State or not by the Sambo administration.”

B’Haram deputy leader, father killed – Military

Boko Haram members

A key member of the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, Momogu Bama,  has been killed by  the Joint Task Force in Borno State.
He met his death the same day with his  father,   Alhaji Abatcha Flatari, described as one of the spiritual leaders of the sect  in an operation  between the sect members and the JTF operatives in Bama.
Momogu,  the second-in-command to the sect’s leader, Abubakar Shekau,  had a  N25m  bounty put on his head by security agencies for information that could lead to his arrest.
The Director of Defence Information, Brig.- Gen Chris Olukolade, who confirmed his killing, described him as a vicious Boko Haram leader who took delight in personally slaughtering  the sect’s victims.
He added that  Momogu  was the expert  in charge of  mounting  anti-aircraft weapons for  the sect and coordinating  members  in Yobe and Adamawa  states.
Olukolade said in an electronic mail on Wednesday to one of our correspondents that Momogu was identified by insurgents arrested during one of the recent encounters between the JTF  and the insurgents in Bama.
He said, “As troops intensify pursuit of terrorists who have been unleashing mayhem in Borno and Yobe communities, the death of Momogu  Bama, said to be the Second-in-Command to  Shekau  has been confirmed by other arrested terrorists. This followed encounters with the terrorists around the Bama corridor.
“Momogu Bama personally led the attacks against troops and innocent citizens in the communities of Yobe and Adamawa.  A specialist in manning the anti-aircraft guns of the group, he is known to be vicious and heartless with a penchant for personally slaughtering and executing  victims.
“Momogu Bama has been a most wanted terrorist with a N25m bounty already placed on his head.”
Olukolade, who  added that  the JTF had intensified aerial patrol to secure  communities  in Borno and Yobe states, said   that  17  insurgents were  killed and  24 arrested during the Bama  encounter.
“Others that died in the operation included Momogu’s father, Alhaji  Flatari, who is also one of the spiritual guiding lights of the outlawed terrorists group.  Seventeen  other terrorists also lost their lives in the encounter  while 24 were arrested.’’
He said  the JTF had intensified aerial patrol to secure communities in  the two states.
“The troops are continuing the pursuit of the terrorists while intensifying aggressive aerial and land patrols to ensure better security cover for the communities especially in the two states,” he  said in the  statement.
Meanwhile, eight women may have been arrested in Maiduguri   by  the JTF operatives for using their veils to  conceal  guns for  insurgents.
A JTF source, who made this known  did not  say  exactly when the  women were arrested and the number of guns seized from them.
He  stated that the operatives were stunned when they stopped the women and found out that what they were “transporting” with their veils were guns.
He said, “The troops could not believe what they saw. A soldier just suspected the women and decided to stop them but when they were asked to unwrap what they were transporting, they hesitated, thereby making some of the soldiers to forcefully remove the veils. They saw  a number of guns neatly concealed with the veils and the  women were promptly arrested.”
Olukolade  said that the JTF  in the North-East had intensified patrols in the north of Borno where 44 people  were killed by Boko Haram members  during an attack on  a mosque   on Sunday.
He  added that the JTF was combining aerial and ground patrols  to ensure effective protection of the communities in the area.
The DHQ spokesman said, “There is a regular and more aggressive patrol in the area; the patrols have been increased with the additional troops that are on the ground.
“It is not possible to station troops in all the villages in the area because they  are very far from each other. The solution is to step up patrols; we also have air patrol activities.”
Also on Wednesday, the President of the Senate, David Mark; the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Jama’atu Nasril Islam  joined in the condemnation of the killing of 44  worshippers in  a mosque in Konduga.
Mark, in  a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh,  called on the  security  agencies  to begin a review  of  their  strategies  against terrorism in the country.
He described the  incident as  inhuman and barbaric, saying that “nothing can be so cruel and callous than this crime against humanity.”
He    lamented  that the renewed hostilities were coming   at a time  people were heaving a sigh of relief .
The Senate President  said, “The continued violence, killing of innocent and unarmed people and destruction of property by the insurgents  cannot be justified or contribute towards achieving whatever their objectives may be.
“There is a need for the perpetrators and their financers to make a U-turn and embrace peace. It is only a mad man that throws stone into the market place or village square  without thinking about the consequences . The Federal Government has opened  windows for peace and dialogue. These people should take advantage of  them  and end this violence.’’
Also, CAN, through its President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor,  expressed dismay over the  Konduga massacre , describing  it as callous.
He challenged Islamic  clerics  to “muster the needed courage to expose those who are bent on bastadising the good face of Islam.”
According to him, Islamic leaders should not relent in their efforts “to combat the nefarious activities of the  militant sect  since  they adopt new tactics every day.”
The CAN President, in a statement   on Wednesday by his Special Assistant (Media), Mr. Kenny Ashaka, said the Sunday  massacre was not only condemnable   but a  cowardly act   against   people fulfilling their spiritual obligation .
He said, “Nobody should be killed in the first place, much less  of being murdered  at a place of worship. Whatever people may have learnt that make them behave in such manner should be condemned by all Nigerians. As a Christian body, CAN will continue to condemn these heinous acts of the enemies of unity and agents of death.
“Those betraying their fellow Muslims by working underground with enemies of the nation should also be fished out and dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.”
In  its own statement, the JNI which is  led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll, called for investigation into the killings. It  noted that despite the emergency rule in    Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states,  killings by  insurgents had continued unabated.
It specifically wondered how the killings were carried  out considering the     heavy presence of  military men in an area  where over 40 uslims lost their lives while worshipping.
In the   statement   by its  Secretary-General, Dr. Khalid Aliyu, the JNI said it  received “with consternation and daze,  the senseless killings that occurred at police and military formations in Bama, Malam Fatori, Borno State, which was climaxed with another  senseless killings of innocent worshippers during early dawn prayers at a mosque in Konduga   some kilometres  away from Maiduguri, Borno State.”

"FG can't meet ASUU's N92b demand' - Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala says

Minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala said yesterday during the opening of the two-day meeting of Commissioners of Finance and Accountants-General of States, that the federal government can't meet the N92billion being demanded by ASUU.

 Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said
“At present, ASUU wants the Federal Government to pay N92 billion in extra allowances, when the resources are not there, and when we are working to integrate past increases in pensions. We need to make choices in this country as we are getting to the stage where recurrent expenditures take the bulk of our resources and people get paid but can do no work. Since I assumed office, the share of recurrent expenditure in our total budgets had increased astronomically. In fact, recurrent expenditure accounted for about 77.2 per cent of the federal budget and we are now working to re-balance this ratio.
The country is still suffering from the effect of the 2010 increase in salary. Do we want to get to a stage in this country that all the money we earn is used to pay salaries and allowances? If the demands of the university lecturers are met and we continue to pay them salaries and allowances, we will not be able to provide infrastructure in the universities.”
So what does this mean? Students will continue to stay at home?

Gov Fashola orders re-opening of Ex-Gov Orji Uzor Kalu's Ikoyi home

Press release from the Lagos State Government
The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to a misleading claim by a businessman, Mr. Orji Uzor Kalu that his Ikoyi home has been sealed off following a threat to sue the Lagos State Government over an unrelated matter.
We wish to state, for the avoidance of doubt, that nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is that Mr. Orji Uzor Kalu’s property in Park View Estate, Ikoyi was distrained pursuant to Section 40 of the Revenue Administration Law of Lagos State for failure to pay the statutory annual land use charge despite three separate notices delivered to the said property.
As a government driven by law and process, the Lagos State Government will ordinarily expect all law abiding residents to discharge their responsibilities to the state.

If, in spite of failing to do so, Mr. Orji Uzor Kalu wants to give ethnic colouration to a routine performance of its duties by an agency of the state government, which in this case is the Land Use Charge Office, under the Ministry of Finance, he is welcome to do so.

However it should be noted that when the issue was brought to the attention of the Governor, Tuesday evening, he directed the agency to unseal the property and that an additional 14 days grace period be given to Mr. Kalu to pay the said charge.

It should be emphasised that notices like these are served on defaulting property owners on a regular basis who either comply or contact the Agency to raise any objections they might have to such notice. Mr. Orji Uzor Kalu, like every other citizen, must fulfil his obligation to the State.
