Okusanya’s Last Moments —Bosom Friend

The late MIC Funeral Services boss,  Tunji Okusanya, spent his last moments discussing how he was to turn the funeral undertaking business around.
His bosom friend, Gideon Ade Akingboye, revealed this P.M.NEWS in an interview Thursday in Lagos, southern Nigeria.
Akingboye, who was saved by a stroke of luck from dying because he chose to travel by road to Ondo rather than board the 3 October ill-fated Associated Airline that crashed and took the lives of his friend, Okusanya, his son and 13 others, said the deceased was very obsessed about getting funeral services done the way it should.
According to him, Okusanya, in his usual style was keen on rendering a spectacular burial for the late  the former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, both in Akure and Iju-Odo in Ondo State, which necessitated his travelling with the corpse.
He said the likable MIC boss never believed he will die in the next one or two decades as he was always full of life.
Akingboye added that though Okusanya’s first son, Olatunji Jnr., whom he was grooming to take over the running of the company from him, was available to handle the job, the late MIC boss was on the trip to honour Agagu.
“Tunji had done something for the Agagu in the past, I think when the in-law died. But Agagu even had to complain then that Tunji didn’t come personally to conduct the funeral service. So, when Agagu died, he chose to be there this time around,” Akingboye said.
He noted that the corpse of Okusanya and that of his son are yet to be released until the DNA issues are sorted out.

Blood-Thirsty Dad Eats Up Daughter

A Papua New Guinea man described as a vampire has been arrested after allegedly murdering his young daughter by biting her neck, eating her flesh and drinking her blood, a report said Friday.
Police called the grisly incident that occurred on Wednesday at a settlement near Lae “an act of cannibalism”.
The PNG Post Courier cited local councillor John Kenny, who was one of the first on the scene, as saying the three-year-old child and her mother were visiting the father when he grabbed the girl and ran off into nearby bushes.
Kenny said the man allegedly held the toddler close to him, bit deep into her neck, ate the flesh and sucked her blood.
Two boys who were climbing a coconut tree nearby saw him and ran quickly to raise the alarm.
“He was just laughing at the boys and continued eating the flesh and sucking the blood,” Kenny told the newspaper.
“The boys were scared and ran quickly to alert the people.”
When people arrived to investigate the man reportedly dumped the body in the bushes and ran away before being caught and turned over to police.
PNG is a sprawling nation where black magic, sorcery and cannibalism sometimes occur.
Last year police arrested dozens of people linked to an alleged cannibal cult accused of killing at least seven people, eating their brains raw and making soup from their penises.
There have been several other recent cases linked to cults, witchcraft and cannibalism, with a man in 2011 reportedly found eating his screaming, newborn son during a sorcery initiation ceremony.

Pilots Argued In Crashed Plane

There appeared to be an argument between the Captain and the First Officer of the Associated Airline aircraft which crashed on 3 October in Lagos Nigeria and killed 15 people, the aircraft’s black box has revealed.
The readout of the black box ,also known as Cockpit Voice Recorder, CVR, conducted by Nigeria’s Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, in its Abuja’s laboratory revealed that the computer onboard the plane sent a warning message to the Captain, Yakubu Abdulrahman, shortly before take-off but he ignored it.
The First Officer then suggested to the pilot to abort take-off but Yakubu Abdulrahman proceeded and took off.
“The First Officer asked if the take-off should be aborted approximately 12 seconds after the ‘eight knots’ callout,” said Captain Mukhtar Usman, Commissioner Accident Investigation Bureau,AIB.
AIB said the pilot and the co-pilot discussed some concerns about the aircraft prior to departure.
“The crew discussed some concerns about the aircraft prior to departure but at this time we are not prepared to elaborate on those concerns as there remains a lot of work to do to complete on the CVR analysis in order to determine the specific nature of the crew’s concerns,” said AIB Commissioner, Muktar Usman.
Usman said approximately four seconds after engine power was advanced to commence the take-off roll, the crew received an automated warning from the onboard computer voice which consisted of three chimes followed by “take-off flaps…take-off flaps.
“This is a configuration warning that suggests that the flaps were not in correct position for take-off. And there is some evidence that the crew may have chosen not to use the flap for take-off,” Usman said.
“This warning continued throughout the take-off roll,” Usman added.
“Approximately three seconds after ‘power is set’ call, the First Officer noted that the aircraft was moving slowly.
“At this time we can state that the Right engine appeared to be producing considerably less thrust than the left engine. The left engine appeared to be working normally,” Usman said.

Sunny Okosuns’ family disowns ex-queen, Ethel, says she’s not their father’s daughter

That's strange. I've known Ethel for a while now and I've always thought she's the daughter of late music legend Sunny Okosuns...but the family is now saying she's not their father's daughter.

Ethel Okosuns won the Miss Earth Nigeria pageant in 2005 and is currently the project director of Exquisite Face of Africa pageant. In an interview with Vanguard just last month, Ethel talked about growing up as Sunny Okosuns' daughter and said she still missed her dad...

But the Okosuns family in a statement exclusively made available to Vanguard and signed by the singer’s son, Sidney Ehimare Okosuns disowned Ethel. The wrote:

"We wish to state categorically that Ms. Ethel is not our sibling. She is not the daughter of our father. Our father had four children: Sidney Okosuns, Michael Okosuns, Adesuwa Okosuns and Ebony Okosuns.

This is not the first time Ms. Ethel has … used our late father’s image and likeness as “name dropping” to achieve whatever affluence she seeks. She needs to stop identifying herself as the daughter of the Ozziddi great musician.

Years ago, Ms. Ethel as a teenager wondered into our Yaya Abatan home. Our parents ran a liberal attitude home, welcoming visitors and strangers to our sprawling Ogba Estate. Thus, our home was always busy with people from all walks of life.

Ms. Ethel walked into our home, pleaded with my dad that she wanted to sing and had no other place to live in Lagos. My parents welcome her to our compound, offered her unconditional food, shelter and love. She never left for several years. The generosity and kindness of providing her food and shelter does not give her automatic birth right to the Okosuns.”
